«On 22 May 2014, the Law Faculty, Lomonosov Moscow State University won the final round of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Trial Competition, Russian version, held in ICC Courtroom I in The Hague (Netherlands). The respective second and third place teams represented Law School, National Research University, Higher School of Economics, and Kutafin Moscow State Law University. The Best Speaker award went to Nataliya Sekretareva of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Lomonosov Moscow State University’s winning team comprised Roman Lashkul, Nataliya Sekretareva and Kristina Russkikh.
Before a bench composed of Judge Geoffrey A. Henderson (presiding), and ICC Legal Officers Matt Halling and Rogier Bartels, the teams competed on a fictitious case, presenting oral arguments during an appeals hearing in the roles of Prosecution, Defence and Government Representatives. After a break for deliberations, the jury announced the bench’s decision and an awards ceremony was held for all participants.
